"Thank you Weeping Radish, Mr. Bennewitz, and staff for great hospitality, a wonderful tour, a fantastic lunch, and phenomenal beer. Our visit yesterday was outstanding. We learned so much about how hard you all have to work to make a difference. I am grateful for your effort and sacrifice. And even my two little boys had a fun time- they loved the hayride most of all! We wish we lived closer, but it was well worth the trip! Thanks again and best of luck to you all." Sincerely, Matthew Bellaver".
What is German Reinheitsgebot Beer?
In Bavaria, beer is still produced in strict accordance with the Purity Law of 1516 (Reinheitsgebot), which stipulates that only water, hops, malt and yeast are to be used in the beer making process. Today, we uphold the same values as these traditional brewers, and are pleased to provide you with our fresh, handcrafted beers.
The Brewery - The History of the Weeping Radish Brewery
The Weeping Radish Brewery is North Carolina’s oldest microbrewery. In production since 1986, the original brewery was located in Manteo on Roanoke Island. In 2006 we opened the new brewery at our Eco Farm in Jarvisburg, close to the Cotton Gin in Currituck County.
All of our beers are German style lagers and use only the finest ingredients. In Bavaria, beer is still produced in strict accordance with the Purity Law of 1516 (Reinheitsgebot), which stipulates that only water, hops, malt and yeast are to be used in thećbeer making process. Today, we uphold the same values as these traditional brewers, and are pleased to provide you with our fresh, handcrafted beers.
Weeping Radish beers have won many awards over the years. The Black Radish is featured in the Guide to Beer Judging, as the example of a classic dark lager beer. Our Black Radish beer has also recently been chosen online as “One of 50 beers to drink before you die.”
